About Us
Avian Motors is a project to develop an electric vehicle that everyone can afford yet still meet strict design performance goals. This is not as easy as it sounds. Even today, no one is as close to meeting the challenge as we are. And we are very close!
Over the last 6 years we have completed the several working prototypes of the X-Cycle. The R1 has undergone design improvements in almost every area. All that we have learned from the first design, all of the battery data, motor data, performance data, has been incorporated into the newest version of the X-Cycle, the R2.
The R2 version of the X-Cycle has been on the road for over a year and now meets 99% of our performance requirements.
People
Jon Thorn is an experienced mechanical engineer who is leading the design for production effort. Jon has been working on a methodology for converting the prototype to manufacturable vehicle. What is so amazing is that these methods actually reduce vehicle weight and improve acceleration and cornering.
“Performance, cost, and quality are sometimes thought to be mutually exclusive. When properly done, one helps the other!”
Jon Thorn
The design lead on the X-Cycle is Jeff Kotowski. Jeff is an electrical engineer, with over 30 patents ranging from automotive (fuel injectors, tools, engine controls), signal processing (analog circuits, DSP algorithms) to power control.
“When money is no object, building a high performance electric vehicle is not particularly difficult. The trick is to take a pocket full of spare change and turn it into a modern day electric Model-T.”
Jeff Kotowski
